Today, I watched Acchi Kocchi Episode 1.

Judging from the first episode, Acchi Kocchi is a mix of slice-of-life, light romance, and comedy.

There isn’t anything extraordinary about it so far. The first episode had them jump straight into doing things instead of dillydallying on introducing the characters.

That being said, this first episode was split into two parts: the first half introduced the cast and showed them going to school. The second half focused on them going to a game center after school.

Yes, it does sound boring, and it kind of was, but I do think the show has a little charm to it in the interactions between its two main characters: Tsumiki and Io.

I like how Tsumiki is a gentle and reserved character while also being tsundere. This sets her apart from all the other tsundere characters i’ve seen in romance shows who usually come with a very violent demeanor to them.

So far though, Io just seems like an average high school guy. There isn’t anything really outwardly special about him, but it’s only the first episode anyways.

The art style is nice. I do feel like it complements the show’s cartoony feel. Most of the characters are short and cute, and there are a lot of scenes where they become chibi as well, think Potemayo. The art was one of the main reasons I decided to pick up the show in the first place.

Overall, it was entertaining to watch, but i’ll admit there isn’t really anything crazy to mention just yet.
